NEW MACOS X MONICA BETA RELEASED

Black Diamond Products today announced the release of the second public beta MacOS X version of Monica, its popular download manager.

Monica is a queue based file download program for the Mac for downloading files from the Internet using FTP, Hotline and HTTP protocols. Monica achieves exceptional download throughput by utilising queue technology, optimised processing of Internet protocols, and by extensive use of transfer resumption techniques.

This version should fix various minor reported bugs and the issue of strangely coloured menus on some Macs.

MACOS X VERSIONS OF MONICA AND HEFTY FTP RELEASED

Black Diamond Products today announced the release of the first public beta MacOS X versions of Monica, its popular download manager, and Hefty FTP, its FTP client. Simultaneously, Black Diamond are releasing a set of 13 free utility programs for MacOS X.

Monica is a queue based file download program for the Mac for downloading files from the Internet using FTP, Hotline and HTTP protocols. Monica achieves exceptional download throughput by utilising queue technology, optimised processing of Internet protocols, and by extensive use of transfer resumption techniques.

Hefty FTP is a queue based FTP client for Unix and PC FTP servers that that supports file transfers to or from up to four FTP servers simultaneously as well as HTTP transfers. Hefty FTP implements automatic connection retries, automatic resumption of stalled or interrupted transfers, as well as queue scheduling and AppleScript control.

MONICA 3.0 ( English ) PUBLIC BETA RELEASED

Monica is a queue based file download program for the Mac for downloading files from the Internet using ftp, Hotline and http protocols.

Monica achieves exceptional download throughput by utilising queue technology, optimised processing of Internet protocols, and by extensive use of transfer resumption techniques.

Monica a great time saver for people who download many or large files off the Internet!

Changes in this version are extensive. Much of the underlying code has been redesigned and rewritten. Key changes include:

  • Improved handling of buggy FTP servers
  • Improved handling of many HTTP servers
  • Better handling of queue-enabled Hotline servers
  • Redesigned main screen
  • More efficient queue handling
  • Documentation in HTML
  • Ability to show/hide download windows easily
  • Facility to change number of concurrent downloads on the fly
  • Addition of a ( beta ) FTP Loader helper application
  • Improved stability ( compiled in REALbasic 3.0 )

Monica is available for the Mac and is shareware, priced at $20 for a single user license.

THUMBNAILER RELEASED

ThumbNailer is a free program for creating thumbnails of images. Great for batch creating thumbnails for your web page! ThumbNailer features:

  • User specified fixed height and width
  • Or, specify the height and the thumbnail will scale in proportion
  • Or, specify the width and the thumbnail will scale in proportion
  • Drop files from the Finder
  • Automatic thumbnail naming
  • JPEG or PICT output

BOPALONG PUBLIC BETA RELEASED

Bopalong is a file manipulation and listing program for the Mac. It allows you to rename batches of files, batch change various file properties, and generate file and folder listings. Bopalong:

  • Allows previews of any file changes before making them
  • Has simple wildcard renaming facilities
  • Can set file labels, comments, type and creator codes
  • Allows you to delete resource forks ( useful for web graphics )
  • Has flexible file selection facilities

FILEFONE PUBLIC BETA RELEASED

FileFone is a phone for sending and receiving files over the internet. It allows you to "ring up" another FileFone user by his IP address to send a file. FileFone:

SOCKETOOME 1.0 RELEASED

SockeToome is an application to send files to other users, directly, person-to-person. It involves no central server, and can be used by people with both static and dynamic IP addresses. It works at the sender's convenience, queueing files for transmission to other users, and holding them in a queue until successfully sent. If you regularly exchange files with other people, SockeToome can simplify your life.

SockeToome:

  • both retries and resumes transfers
  • transmits directly between the sender's and receiver's computers
