1. Description

1.1 What is it - Description

WebiToome is an application that allows you to receive files directly from your web page. It acts as a small personal server, allowing others to send files off their computers straight to your computer. It is shareware ( US$20 ).

1.2 Why is it - Benefits

People are always wanting to share files on the internet. Currently the internet is dominated by the idea of large servers being required for file transfers, and most individuals do not have the resources or time to run such servers. Many personal web server applications are extremely limited when it comes to receiving files, and sending large files by email is often problematic.

Privacy has also become a major issue. Several central-server based facilities have been shown to flagrantly violate your privacy, and who knows who might be monitoring your favourite server today?

WebiToome addresses these needs. It allows you to use your own web space to create a facility for others to send files directly from their computers to yours. Like its companion application SockeToome, it is simple to set up and run, and communicates directly between users ( avoiding server-watching Big Brothers ).

Features and Benefits include:

1.3 Shareware Limitations

The unregistered version is limited to 50 file transfers.

1.4 Other Limitations

WebiToome does not replace your web host - it is not a web server but a file receiver that works in conjunction with your normal web host.
