FileFone is an internet utility for sending and receiving files. It works like a phone, allowing you to call another FileFone user using his/her IP address to send a file. It is shareware ( US$20 ).
People want to exchange files over the internet. Traditionally this has been done by the unreliable and limited method of email, by uploading to and downloading from a central server, or by locating another user via a central server. In recent times there has been a desire to move away from central servers for reasons of privacy, coupled with the need for reliable fast file transfers.
FileFone addresses these needs. It operates peer-to-peer without any central server of any kind, and offers efficient resumable file transfers.
In addition, it is highly configurable, allowing you to change or translate virtually all of the program text, and to extensively configure the look of the program by altering the window size, the control sizes, fonts and positions, the window background graphics, etc.
The unregistered version is limited to 25 file transfers. Registering the program makes the initial splash screen go away.
FileFone has one outgoing and one incoming transmission line. If you need more than this, or if you need additional features such as queueing, we offer the more powerful program SockeToome.
Suggestions welcome.
