1.1 What is it - Description

Bopalong is a file manipulation utility and folder list generator. It is shareware ( US$10 ).

1.2 Why is it - Benefits

There are many Mac file utilities - why another one?

The motivation for writing Bopalong was to pull together in one program much of the functionality of other utilities, and to add more in the way of folder list generating capabilities. Coming from a background of other operating systems, I have always been surprised at how difficult it is on the Mac to generate folder information in a usable format. The Mac OS shields one from so many things - that is one of its great strengths. But sometimes one really does want to see things a bit more clearly, to do bulk operations on files, to find out easily what is hogging your disk space, etc.

Allows previews of any file changes before making them
Has simple wildcard renaming facilities
Can set file labels, comments, type and creator codes
Allows you to delete resource forks ( useful for web graphics )
Has flexible file selection facilities
Allows you to view or export file listings with selectable fields and separators
Features a folder size lister to help see where all that disk space is going
Can generate lists based on various search criteria

1.3 Shareware Limitations

The unregistered version has no limitation.

If you find that you use the program after two weeks of testing, please register. We would sure appreciate it.

1.4 Other Limitations

Some functions are limited by the limitations of third-party plugins. These are noted in the Known Problems section.
